405	ANDERSEN - Aase R. of Syosset NY, peacefully entered life eternal at the age of 96 on April 20th, 2020. Aase passed away from natural causes with her beloved daughter, Evelyn Meyers at her side. Aase was born in Oslo, Norway on November 6th 1923 to Karen and Leif Mathisen. She met her future husband, Harry E. Andersen on July 4th 1945 as WWII was winding down in Norway. During the 50th anniversary event in Oslo marking the end of WWII, she and Harry were honored to shake the hand of the King of Norway. She was so proud of this moment in her life and shared this story often with her many acquaintances. Aase and Harry settled in Syosset and were among the original founding members of Faith Lutheran Church, Syosset. They were blessed with two children, Evelyn and Arthur (who sadly passed in August 1978). Aase was a devoted and loving mother who felt great joy in raising her two children to adulthood.Aase was the proud wife of Harry, who rose in the ranks to become the Second Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department. She was an active member of Norden Lodge 407 of the Sons of Norway. Blessed with a keen sense of humor and a loving heart, she will be greatly missed by her daughter and friends. Aase will be laid to rest at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington on May 2nd. A memorial service honoring her life is planned for the fall. 406	ANDERSEN - Harry E. on February 23, 2009 of Syosset, NY. Harry was with the Nassau County Police Dept. for 43 years rising in rank to Deputy Commissioner. A proud W.W. II Veteran, who served with the 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), Company B. He participated in The European Theatre of Operations and fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge. A proud member of the Sons of Norway serving as president of Norden Lodge for two terms. He was a dear husband and father who cherished his family and his Norwegian roots. Beloved husband of Aase (nee Mathisen). Loving father of Evelyn (George) Meyers and the late Arthur H. Andersen. Fond brother of Hildur Sarver. 407	ANDERSON, ETHEL P. Formerly of 610 W. Ottawa, Lansing, and East Lansing Age 87, died September 23, 1998. Born March 22, 1911, in Plainwell, Mrs. Anderson was Manager of u t : Vb Symphony j violin with the Symphony from 1952 through 1987. She was President of the Matinee Musicale of Lansing and a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol. Mrs. Anderson was a Real Estate Broker with Al White Real Estate of East Lansing and a member of Peoples Church of East Lansing. Surviving are 2 sons, Jud-son C. (Sandra) of Big Rapids and Alan L. (Sherry) of Grosse He; 5 grandchildren, Julie (Randall) Warner, Scott (Linda) Anderson, Dayna (Daniel) Gemzer, Jason Anderson and Jeffrey (Cheryl) Anderson; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Florence Ruth Bishop of Blythe, CA. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 12 noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, with the Rev. Carl W. Staser of East Lansing officiating. 412	Anita Idalyn (Thulien) Ursin-Towns, born December 15, 1919 to Oscar & Maren Thulien, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on January 15th, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI and entered into eternal rest in the Kingdom of our Lord. Anita graduated from Iola High School and attended Oshkosh Business College. She married Norman O. Ursin in 1942. They lived in Wittenberg, Berlin, Iola, and finally resided in Waupaca, becoming active members of the First Assembly of God Church. Since 1977 until her retirement in 1984, Anita Ursin had been committed to improving the delivery of services to the senior citizens of Waupaca County. She served as Project Director and Coordinator on Nutrition for the Commission on Aging and Nutrition for Waupaca County. Anita was preceded in death by her brother Omer Thulien and her husband Norman Ursin. She is survived by her husband (2004) Robert F. Towns and four children: Marlene (Richard) Mastenbrook; Tom (Diana) Ursin; Paula (Nick) Nicoloudis; Reverend Bruce (Susan) Ursin; along with 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. We would like to thank the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home and Hospice for the wonderful care that was given our mom. The funeral service will be held on February 12th at 10:30 am at the First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca. Visitation will precede the service at 9:30 am. 417	Anne Hutchinson, 68, died June 9, 2007 at her home near Laytonsville, MD, of pancreatic cancer. Born in Tvedestrand, Norway, she came to the U.S. in 1946, and married LCDR Peter Hutchinson, USN in 1969. They lived in Rockville, MD and since 1978 in Laytonsville. She retired in April as senior teller at Suntrust Bank in Damascus, after 20 years service. Survivors include Peter, her husband of 38 years; daughters, Karen Hutchinson of Washington, Ellen Arendes of Odenton, and Christina Milsom of Frederick; two grandsons, and her sister Mary Jacobsen of Bonita, CA. 422	April 15, 1920, Fern was born to Silver and Alice (Fry) Valentine at their home in the Wynooche Valley. She had two older brothers, and was the first girl in a family that would grow to 14 children. As a child her days were spent on the family farm. There was hard work, but also very fun times growing up in that family. Her school years were precious to her. Her grade school was the Fairview School, located on the hill that is now the Wynooche Cemetary, and she graduated from Montesano High School in the class of 1937. After high school, Fern completed beauty school. It was during this time that she met and married Anton (Tony) Anensen. She and Anton were married in Shelton, WA on September 23, 1939. They lived for a time in a Simpson Logging camp where Tony worked while they built their home on the Satsop Cloquallum Road outside of Elma. They spent their entire married life in that home. During this time they raised four daughters: Toni, Joy, Nancy, and Sally. As time passed Toni went on to marry Larry Stevens, Joy married Dale Kepley, Nancy married Jerry Anderson, and Sally married David Parks. Because of these families Fern had 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. All of these children were special to "Mammie", as she was lovingly called. Fern never held a job outside of the home, but she fulfilled many roles at home. She was a wife, homemaker and a great mother. She loved baking, and baked bread for her household for over 60 years. She and Tony sold milk in the early part of their marriage, cleared land, built a house, gardened, put up hay, and many other day to day tasks, all done the hard way! Fern canned much of the family's food, picked wild blackberries, and sewed. She also embroidered and crocheted for her children and grandchildren. Most can look and find something she made for them throughout the years. She was a happy and fun person. All of her children can remember the many mornings she would wake them up by singing. Fern was an active grange member for many years, filling the office of secretary most of that time. During the 60's Fern was introduced to Jesus at a Buck's Prairie Church. She was baptized and later joined the First Baptist Church in Elma where she remained a member until her death. She taught Sunday School, VBS,and worked in the nursery there for many years, and she enjoyed the fellowship of many friends. Along with her daughters and families, Fern leaves behind brothers Clarence and Jim Valentine, and sisters Ernestine Wolfe and Neva Schmidt. Vernon, Lyle, Richard, Gerald (Gov), Harold, and Roger Valentine were the brothers that preceeded her in death. Sisters Eunice Colombo, Alice Duncan, and Doris Jarvis have also passed away. As many family members have had cancer, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church Children's center, or a charity of your choice. 436	August ble født på Lysaker den 15. desember 1915. Faren Asbjørn jobbet der som tømmermann. Etter kort tid flyttet familien til Østerå hvor August vokste opp. Som 15-åring dro han til Oslo for å gå i snekkerlære og jobbet senere med å bygge villaer i Oslo-området sammen med sin far. I Oslo traff han også Borghild Tørto fra Valdres, som han giftet seg med i 1940. Da krigen kom, ble det slutt på snekkerjobben i Oslo, og August og Borghild bosatte seg på Østerå. Her begynte han som sagmester på saga som sto der Østerå Marina nå ligger. Senere begynte han for seg selv med sag på Saltvoll, og bedriften ble utvidet ved at han kjøpte opp Målen og Lauvødden fra Adolf Aadnesens dødsbo. Navnet på bedriften ble Østerå Sag. I høysesongen var opp til 10-12 personer ansatt her. Bedriften ble senere utvidet fra å kun være sagbruk til å levere alt av byggevarer. I 1978 ble sagbruket nedlagt og navnet endret til Østerå Bygg. Firmaet ble drevet fram til 1996 og ble da solgt til Bygg Sør i Kristiansand. August jobbet på kontoret helt fram til firmaet ble solgt. Deretter startet han opp sitt eget snekkerverksted i uthuset på Saltvoll, hvor han laget hagestoler, spisestuestoler og mange andre fine møbler. August døde 17. mai 2014, 98 år gammel. 444	Beatrice (Bea) G. Allen (nee Berge), 96, died peacefully at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI on October 26, 2020. Bea was born March 11, 1924 in Edgerton, WI, daughter of Charles and Ida (nee Anderson) Berge. She grew up on a farm near Cambridge, WI. She attended grade school at Smithback School in the Town of Christiana, Dane County, before graduating from Cambridge High School in 1942. Following her ambition to be a nurse during World War II, she enrolled in the Swedish-American Hospital School of Nursing in Rockford, IL graduating in 1943. Following graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at the Edgerton, WI hospital. While working at the hospital, she met Stanley Allen and they were married October 19, 1946 at the Deerfield Lutheran Church. She was proceeded in death by Stanley, who died in 1994. Bea was the loving mother of three children: Sharon Washelesky (Milt), Kewaskum, WI; Chuck (Mary Jo), Whitewater, WI and David (Laura), Fox Point, WI. She was also the proud grandmother and great grandmother of: Tanya (Mike) Krueger, Luke, Ben, Ahren and Emma, West Bend, WI; Jason Washelesky (Dawn), Eli, Jack, Ada and Henry, Sterling, Virg.; Meghan (Matt) Eliason, Trevor and Juliet, Minneapolis, MN; Scott (Becky) Allen, Lodi, WI; Dan (McKenzie) Allen, Gambol and Winona, Lakewood, CO; Meg Allen (St. Paul, MN); and Carrie Allen (St. Louis Park, MN). She is survived by one brother, Roger Berge (Stoughton, WI). She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Donald. She worked for many years as a registered nurse at Countryside Nursing Home in Jefferson, WI before retiring in 1989. During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, bowling and coffee and visits with friends. In retirement she developed a passion for quilting, generously sharing her talents with friends and family. She lived most of her life in the Cambridge area. In her last few years she moved to Cedar Community, an assisted-living community in West Bend, WI to be closer to her family. She greatly enjoyed the enrichment activities at Cedar Community and the care and friendship of residents and staff. Mr. Baker had a great interest in the Civil War. He was very well-versed in all aspects of the war. He was a beloved son and brother and will be missed by all who knew him.
