He moved to FL and was a 22 year Tour Escort for the Kennedy Space Center. John was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sue and son, John, surviving are children, Brad (Wanda) Fick, Susan (Lawrence) Prevatte and Kathy (Chris) Walker; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 5458	John Thorsen, age 86, of Lewes, DE, passed away February 17, 2010, at Cadbury At Lewes, with his loving family by his side. He was born November 4, 1923, in New York City, NY, son of the late Thor G. and Frances (Hansen) Thorsen. John Thorsen was a true gentleman who made a significant impact in the lives of many. John served in the US Navy as a Fire Control 2nd Classman, joining in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He subsequently obtained his Captain's license from the US Coast Guard. After serving in the military, he attended NYU where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1950. He pursued a long career as President and owner of Queens Employment Service from 1953 until his retirement in 1992. During his long professional career, John was honored with several outstanding lifetime achievement awards through both the YMCA of Greater New York and the Rotary Club of Queens. John led his life in a spiritual manner and was an active member and President of the church council of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hicksville, New York prior to his and his wife Joan's relocation to Lewes, Delaware in 1997. John remained dedicated to Joan, his lovely wife of 57 years and his three sons; Peter, Paul and James. He is remembered with love and affection by his daughters in law: Lisa, Kathy and Patricia. He leaves a legacy of strength, fortitude, loyalty and love to his 10 grandchildren: Kyle, Jennifer, Luke, Jake, Colleen, Amanda, Russell, Thomas, Grace and John. John's quiet presence, sincerity and unselfish generosity will be missed by all; he will enter his new life with the love of this family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 20, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, with the Pastor Harry Hughes officiating. 5459	JOHN W SCHMIDT 09/27/2018 John William Schmidt, 95, of Hackettstown, NJ died surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at The House of the Good Shepherd. He was born on January 23, 1923 in Union City, NJ, to the late John and Louise (Krech) Schmidt. Upon graduation from Snyder High School in Jersey City, he became a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during WWII. Following the war he married his childhood sweetheart, June Gloria Seacord on December 8, 1945 and they were happily married for 72 years. John and June later moved to Paramus, NJ where they raised their family and developed many lifelong friendships. Most recently, he has been living at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ where he moved with his wife four years ago. John was a linotype operator by trade and spent most of his career at Lind Brothers, Inc. in New York City. He was a member of the Typographical Union. He was also a talented proofreader. John was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for almost 60 years. He was a tireless worker, always willing to help out anyone in need. He was also a member of the Senior Pioneers in Paramus, NJ for many years. He was an avid photographer amassing a collection of over 10,000 slides all meticulously cataloged to share with friends and family. John loved to travel and was happiest when planning his next vacation. John is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn Trainor and her husband Edward of Succasunna, NJ and Jill Budd and her husband Ronald of Hackettstown, NJ, sister, Margaret Johnsen. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Megan (and her husband Colin Dray), Kevin (and his wife Kaity), Molly and Brian whom he treasured. A service of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 357 Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ at 11:00 AM. 5461	Joseph W. Duh, 85, of Piscataway passed away January 9, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille Christie Duh; his sons Michael and his wife Leanna of Florida and Robert and his wife Dawn of Piscataway; his daughter Janet of South Brunswick and grandson William Hillsinger and his wife Liz. Joe retired from P.S.E.&G with over 46 years of service. He was a Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War. He attained the rank of Sgt. Joe was awarded the combat action Ribbon, The Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Korean Service Medal and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was a life member of the John Basilone Detachment Marine Corp League, The First Marine Division Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a coach of the Piscataway Little League for several years and was instrumental in having lights installed on the field. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 5 to 9 pm at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854. Interment will be in the Brigadier General William C. 5462	July 3, 2012 Henri J. Floch passed on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Henri was born June 1, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Henri G. and Martha, both newly immigrated from France. While still a young boy, Henri got the opportunity to live in France, and he remembered it fondly. Growing up in Brooklyn during his youth, he enjoyed immensely all that the city had to offer. Sit with him long enough and you were bound to hear stories about jumping off piers and swimming in the East River, the wonder of museums large and small, having to carry home whole fish, head and tails intact, or a chicken still to be plucked from the open air markets, visiting Coney Island and seeing many of the jazz greats when they were just starting out. He met his wife Doris, of nearly 58 years (she was also raised in Brooklyn), on a blind date while in college. He showed up for their first date with live lab rats in cages in the back seat of his car. He must have made a very good first impression. After graduating from SUNY Oswego, he started teaching the sciences at Phoenix Central Schools. He was drafted soon after for the Korean War. Upon his return he resumed the teaching that he loved so much. He often credited Mr. John C Birdlebough for shepherding him through all the steps a new teacher has to learn. Henri and Doris were married in 1954 and started a family, having three daughters. His family was his pride and joy, and together Henri and Doris gave their children a rich and loving life, teaching them the beauty of a quiet beach, the joy of a good book and the simple pleasure of a campfire. Henri went on to teach children and shepherd new teachers himself for over 38 years. His students often came on their lunch breaks to feed the many fish, rats, hamsters and gerbils that he kept in his classroom. He always wanted to make science exciting and interesting for all the kids that came his way. He was excited and proud to put these ideas on paper, writing and publishing two science textbooks over his career. Whether he was showing his much loved grandson where the mouth was on a sand dollar or taking his cherished daughters to see "just one more" museum or walking with his beloved wife and many beagles on the shores of Lake Ontario, he was always a good, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Henri leaves behind his wife, Doris (Burkle); daughters Margot Floch and her husband, Greg Irving, Nancy Mansson and her partner Sheila Blais, and Barbara Floch and her partner Bonnie Foley. He also leaves his grandson, Andrew Mansson, and his wife Christina Mansson, as well as his two great-grandchildren Henry and Jillian Mansson. 5463	June Gloria Schmidt, 93 of Hackettstown, NJ died surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at The House of the Good Shepherd. She was born on June 23, 1925 in Jersey City to the late William Seacord and Gertrude (Backe) Seacord. She grew up in Jersey City surrounded by a large extended family of Norwegians. She married her childhood sweetheart, John William Schmidt, following WWII on December 8, 1945, and they were happily married for 72 years. They moved to Paramus in 1955 where they raised their family and developed many life long friendships. Most recently they have been living at The House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ. June was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church in Paramus for almost 60 years. She cherished her church family. She spent her life caring for and bringing joy to everyone around her. She touched many lives and the world is a better place because of her bright and generous spirit. She was a "living angel" as her life was one of faith and love of family. She was a "confidante" who provided wise counsel with a beautiful smile and words of encouragement to everyone she met. She "never met a stranger". She married her true love Howard Brixey, they bought a home & made a life together raising 4 children, 14 grandchildren & 1 great granddaughter. So honest & genuine & loyal her beautiful sense of humor allowed her to laugh in the most difficult times. She was an inspirational role model to all. She graduated from Westwood High School and then from Paterson State College (now William Paterson University). Upon graduating from college with a degree in Speech Pathology she taught in several schools in New Jersey. She loved taking adventures with her boys and their families. She enjoyed spending time outdoors by the lake and learning new skills from her three sons and grandsons. 5470	Karl Kristiansen, Østerå avgikk ved døden i går etter noen få dagers sykeleie. Kristiansen tilhørte en av de eldste slekter på Østerå. Han nedstammet fra den kjente personlighet Lars Johnsen som i noen år var ordfører i Holt og som drev med skipsrederi og ellers var delaktig i den gangværende virksomhet på Østerå. Kristiansen oppholdt seg noen år i Amerika og ved sin hjemkomst tok han arbeide på Østerå Bruk. Han overtok etter sin far et småbruk på Østerå og særlig skogen skjøttet han på en utmerket måte. Han var meget godt kjent med forholdene på Østerå og han hadde bevart i sin erindring beretningene som var gitt av hans forgjengere. Han var en god forteller og det var alltid en opplevelse å høre ham berette fra eldre tider. Han var en meget rettskaffen mann og et godt menneske. Aldri hørte man ham komme med nedsettende uttalelser om sine medmennesker. Hvis han ikke hadde noe godt å si lot han emnet falle. 5484	Larry Jon Anderson, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2016, at The Legends at Heritage Place in Sartell, MN. He was born on July 5, 1943 in Ladysmith, WI to Robert and Margaret Anderson. Larry was a 1962 graduate of Ladysmith High School, Ladysmith, WI, and a 1964 graduate of Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He moved to Sartell, MN in 1969. He worked in construction management at Brutger Companies for 13 years and for a variety of other companies as a construction manager until retiring in 2005. Larry resided in Cold Spring, MN for the past 11 years and is survived by daughter, Julie (Brian) Guggenberger, Cold Spring; son, Steven Anderson, Minneapolis; three grandsons, Alex Guggenberger, Coon Rapids; Andy Guggenberger, St. Louis Park; Evan Guggenberger, St Paul; one great-grandson, Isak Guggenberger, Coon Rapids; two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Anderson, Antigo, WI; and Jeff (Roxi) Anderson, Dracula, GA. 5486	Laura Sunsdahl died September 28, 2018 in Bismarck from heart and kidney problems. She was born May 24, 1951 to Grover "Bud" and Sarah "Jane" (Skovgaard) Potts in LaMoure, ND. She graduated from LaMoure High School in 1969, then attended Jamestown College. She married Robert Stehr in 1970. They lived in Edgeley and Jamestown when their two boys were young. She continued her education at UND where she earned her master's degree. She then began her career as a Nurse Practitioner which she loved. During her career, she worked in Alabama, Iowa, Dickinson, New England, ND, and Bismarck in clinics for the homeless, veteran's hospitals, prisons, occupational health clinics, and several reservation clinics in South Dakota and North Dakota. She spent almost two years working in Saudi Arabia at King Faisal's Hospital. While attending UND, Laurie met and married Jack Sunsdahl. They later divorced. She eventually moved to Bismarck to be close to her mother who was in a Bismarck nursing home. Laurie was an animal lover who enjoyed all animals from those on the farm to her cats and dogs. Laurie is survived by her son, Joe Stehr; sisters: Sally Lofthus, Patricia Burgum, Mary Charrier, Fran Trapp (Harvey); brothers, Robert Potts, Martin Potts (Julie), Richard Potts (Julie); and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew L. Stehr, who died on June 27, 2018, her parents, her sisters Virginia Evans and Nancy Cote, and her brother Bill Potts. 5487	Lawrence Sunsdahl, 89, of Stephen, Minnesota passed away early Sunday morning, March 6th, 2011 at North Valley Medical Center in Warren, Minnesota. Lawrence Charles Sunsdahl was born on December 27, 1921, to Otto J. and H. Amelia Peterson Sunsdahl at Stephen, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at the Norwegian First Lutheran Church in Stephen. He attended primary school and high school in Stephen and graduated in 1939. His extra-curricular time was spent in his father's garage and implement business in Stephen. He was working at the Douglas Aircraft factory in Long Beach, California, when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, and was stationed in Okinawa when the atomic bomb ended the war with Japan in August, 1945. He was discharged from the Navy in July 1946 with a rating of Aviation Chief Petty Officer. After spending 1946 and 1947 in an electronics school in Minneapolis, he returned to his home town of Stephen. In 1948 he married Phyllis E. Thibodo who became his lifetime partner. The same year he became involved in a business partnership with Adolph Johnson. They named their new enterprise "A & L Motor Lab". The partnership was amicably dissolved in 1952 and Lawrence became the sole owner. In 1958 a new building was erected at its present location to better serve the local clientele. The business was renamed "Sunsdahl TV & Appliance". In 1984, after thirty-six years in business, the store was sold to son David and his wife Carol. Lawrence served 32 years on the Stephen Volunteer Fire Department; half those years as chief. He was a member of the Stephen City Council and served 15 years as mayor. He was an active member of the Stephen Civic & Commerce Association, and was a Boy Scout Cubmaster. He was a 64-year member of the local American Legion Post and a 50-plus year local Masonic Lodge member. He represented Stephen on the Northwest Regional Development Commission. He served for three years on the State of Minnesota Waste Management Board and several League of Minnesota Municipal committees. He represented Stephen as a charter member of the Northern Municipal Power Agency, which provides electrical power to twelve member cities. His leadership on local county water boards assured Stephen of a dependable quality water supply. Lawrence served as the local city historian. In his retirement, he worked for the Messenger, the local weekly newspaper, as a correspondent for their weekly "Yesteryears" column. He also wrote a number of articles titled "Backward Glances" which were his personal historical insights about people, places and events that have shaped the community and which he though would be of interest to the Messenger readers. His personal interests were tracking the occurring events on the national political stage. He had an intense interest in the history of World War II, some of which he shared with the readers of his "Backward Glances" columns. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son David (Carol); daughters Mary (Jim) Davenport of Glade Park, Colorado; Laura (Linton) Bradford-Mathews of Grand Junction, Colorado; Donna (Richard) Pierson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; Elizabeth, Christopher, Meredith, Michael, Melody, Preston and Julie; and 8 great-grandchildren; Brother Richard (Elaine) Sunsdahl of Faribault, Minnesota; sister-in-law Ruth Sunsdahl of Litchfield, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Norman Sunsdahl, and infant sister, May and nephew Gregory Sundsdahl. He affiliated with the Presbyterian Church after his marriage to Phyllis in 1948. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Stephen. Interment will be in the Stephen City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Austin Funeral Home, Stephen with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. 5488	Leif Myhre, 83, of Bedminster Township, died on Friday, April 28, 2006, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Arendal, Norway, he came to the United States in 1928, settling in Staten Island, N.Y. He had lived in Mendham and Bedminster Township for the past 40 years. He also was a winter resident of Boca Raton, Fla., for many years. Mr. Myhre was an entrepreneur and philanthropist for most of his life, beginning his career as a real estate developer on Staten Island. He constructed the first free-standing mall and built about 500 homes there. He was also involved in shipbuilding at Staten Island shipyards. A biblical scholar, Mr. Myhre was involved in Christian missionary work throughout the world. He was active with the Billy Graham ministry and took part in the Billy Graham Crusade in the New York metropolitan area and the Campus Crusade for Christ. He donated money and helped build churches and worship centers in Staten Island and children's Christian camps in New York and New Hampshire. He was also involved in equine activities, having driven horse and carriages and served as a judge with the United Sates Equestrian Team in Gladstone. He maintained fruit orchards and raised honey bees on his properties. He served on the Board of Directors of the Market Street Mission in Morristown and was a member of the Christian Businessmen's Club of Morris County. Mr. Myhre was a former member of the Long Hill Chapel in Chatham and built the recreation center there. He had a passion for woodworking. Mr. Myhre was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Judy Haugen Myhre, who died in 2003; and by a brother, John Myhre, who died this year. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey A. Myhre and his wife, Marla, of Bedminster and Gary L. Myhre and his wife, Eilleen, of Boca Raton, Fla.; two grandchildren, Liv and Connor Myhre of Boca Raton, Fla.; three brothers, Bobby and Andy of Frenchtown and Arvid of Stockton; and two sisters, Liv Olson of Toms River and Meriam Edkins of Philadelphia. Services were held at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township on Thursday, May 4. 5489	Leonard P. Dahl, 80 Loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend. Leonard P. Dahl , 80 years young, passed away at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J., after a brief illness. He was called home to join his wife, Priscilla, on July 3, 2017. Visitation is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Eltingville Lutheran Church on Genesee Avenue. Leonard was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 12, 1937, to Peder and Annie Dahl. Priscilla and Leonard married on Sept. 23, 1961. In 1963 they moved to Staten Island and started a family. Leonard was predeceased by his wife in March of 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane Friscia; grandson, Tyler Friscia; son, Kristian, his wife Jeanette, and granddaughter, Alyssa, as well as his sister-in-law, Cynthia Pinson, and many nieces and nephews. Leonard was a champion amateur golfer in the New York metropolitan area, having won numerous local and regional amateur tournaments as well as qualifying three times for the National Public Links. He was a member of Shore View Golf Club in Bay Ridge, LaTourette, South Shore and Esquire men's golf clubs in Staten Island. During the 80's he wrote a golf column for the Brooklyn Register. Leonard was a longtime member of Eltingville Lutheran Church, and the Sons of Norway Nansen Lodge. In 1966 he became the Master at Bay Ridge Minerva Masonic Lodge and was presented with his 50-year member certificate in 2009 at Beacon Light Lodge, Staten Island. He graduated Fort Hamilton High School before entering the Navy as a submariner. Upon discharge, Leonard worked as a rigger with his father Peder before embarking on a career in real estate. In 1980, he became Citibank's first in-house real estate appraiser, working in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He retired from Citibank in 1995 to become a freelance appraiser. While raising his children, Leonard coached Little League and ice hockey, also officiating in these sports. In 1985, he and his daughter pioneered and introduced the Tottenville Hockey Club's Cheerleaders, who took the ice cheering at all of the club's games. He always took an active role in his children's, and grandchildren's lives, supporting them in music, sports and other endeavors. When not working or playing golf, Leonard loved boating, fishing and spending time with family. Family card games like poker, may-I and pinochle were favorites. Leonard will be sorely missed by many. 5491	Lillian 'Lou' Sigdahl, age 73, resident of Aneta, ND, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at her residence in Aneta. Lillian Hazel Kjorvestad was born November 22, 1930 to Eivind and Helga (Christopherson) Kjorvestad. She was baptized and confirmed at Valley Grove Lutheran Church of Kloten. She attended school in Kloten and graduated from high school on June 3, 1948 She married Obert Sigdahl in 1950. In 1968, she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a bookkeeper for Briggs Freight Company. She moved back to this area in 1982. She resided in the area until the time of her death. Lillian was a member of Valley Grove Lutheran Church. In her spare time she enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking and canning, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son; Harlan (Artha) of Aneta, two grandsons; Tim Sigdahl of Grand Forks, ND and Jonathan Sigdahl of Aneta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. 5492	Lind Nils S., age 77, of Maple Grove. The best father and husband in the world passed away on July 21, 2004. Preceded in death by Marian, his dearly beloved wife of nearly 46 years, and brothers Inge Rolv Lind and Egil Frode Lind. He is survived by daughters, Helen Lind, Marta Gray & husband Christopher; sons, David Lind & wife Sandy, Erik Lind & wife Judy; grandchildren, Brian, Sean, Sara, Kari, Rebecca, Brett, Stephanie & Kjirsten; sister, Bjorg Tonsberg & husband Sigurd of Oslo, Norway; and three special nephews, Craig, Martin and Colin Lind. Nils was a pioneer in hydraulic technology who was well known, widely respected and trusted throughout the railroad maintenance industry as a result of his innovative designs. In retirement he was able to pursue a passion for woodworking, becoming a master clockmaker and luthier. His fine craftsmanship has left a legacy that will endure far into the future. His greatest gift was his limitless love for his family, especially his wife Marian, for whom he tirelessly and lovingly cared for during her long illness. Loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friends was born on Feb. 9, 1963 in Minneapolis to David and Faith Risser. She grew up in Owatonna and was a former Miss Owatonna. A successful businesswoman with a master's degree. She graduated from U of M Carlson School of Business and worked for several companies in the Twin cities area including Honeywell, Addco and Prepaid legal services. A talented musician, she was active in her church and many civic organizations. She married Dr. Bruce Dumke in 1992 and was a loving mother to their two daughters. She will always be remembered for her giving spirit which continues on in her legacy as an organ and tissue donor. She was preceded in death by her father, David and brother, James. Blessed to have had her in their lives, she leaves surviving husband, Bruce; daughters, Madeleine (10) and Hannah (4), Prior Lake; mother, Faith Risser Swenson (Lowell), Plymouth; grandmother, Ruby Risser; Sister, Suzanne Johnson (Michael), Stillwater; stepmother, Sonja Risser, Woodbury; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. 5494	Liv Myhre Olsen, Bayville Liv Myhre Olsen passed away peacefully on August 27, 2016 at her home in Bayville, New Jersey. She was 95 years of age. Liv was born in Naresto, Norway on March 1, 1921 to Jenny and Silas Myhre. She came to America in 1927. Her family settled on Staten Island. She graduated from Port Richmond High School on Staten Island in 1940. She married Edward Olsen on February 25, 1943. She moved to Bayville, NJ in 1972. Liv and Eddie built a beautiful home on the Toms River where they both lived for the rest of their lives. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Nansen Lodge on Staten Island for over 75 years and was very proud of her Norwegian ancestry. Liv loved to garden and was also a long time member of the Toms River Garden Club. She was an excellent cook and hostess. Her home was decorated with many of her needlework projects. She enjoyed a very healthy life. Liv worshiped at Zion Lutheran Church on Staten Island and the First Presbyterian Church of Toms River. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Olsen, her brothers, Andreas Myhre, Leif Myhre, John Myhre, Robert Myhre, and her sister Miriam Edkins. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Ivanowski of Beachwood, NJ, her son Dr. Norman Olsen of Toms River, NJ, her brother Arvid Myhre, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren children and many nieces and nephews. Så flyttet han opp til Nytorvet hvor det ble bygd en ny forretning. Sønnen Knut, som også var elektriker, overtok sammen med kona Mona firmaet.
