551	Doris Lillian Navestad, age 89 of Burdett, NY passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was born at home in Ozone Park, NY on March 26, 1931, to Harry and Pauline (Voss) Croker. On April 24, 1954 she married Per J. Navestad at Community Methodist Church in Ozone Park, NY. They raised four children at their home in Oceanside, NY. For the 25 years prior to moving to Burdett in 1987, the family spent part of every summer, at first, tent camping, and then vacationing at their country cabin in Tyrone. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Per; daughter, Wendy (Robert) Wirth; sons Paul, Eric (Cheryll), and Gary (Tina) Navestad; grandchildren Amy (Anthony) Bo, Lori (Erich) Asperschlager, Gregory, Brian, Julie, Paige, and Perry Navestad; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Bo, Juliet and Leah Asperschlager, and special niece, Janet (Hurbert) Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Charlotte Lanigan and Joan Croker, sister-in-law, Ann "Tula" Navestad, and grandsons, Ethan and Elijah Navestad. Doris was a stenographer for McCrory's Department Store in New York City before becoming a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Oceanside where she organized several successful craft fairs. When she returned to work, she was employed by the Town of Hempstead as an instructor of craft classes for senior citizens at five different Long Island locations. Even after she was a senior herself, she enjoyed telling stories about "her seniors" and the projects they worked on together. After retiring to Burdett, Doris became involved with several activities. She was a member of the Reynoldsville United Methodist Church, and was one of the founding volunteers of the Reynoldsville Food Pantry, a cause that was very important to her. She was also one of the Literacy Volunteers of Chemung and Schuyler Counties and an RSVP Reading Buddy. She belonged to the Burdett Ladies Wednesday Afternoon Club, was a member of the Vintage Red Hat Divas, Choose to Trust group, and several quilt guilds. She collected fabric, enjoyed sewing, making quilted clothing, and other quilted projects. She found great joy working in her flower garden, a hobby she shared with her grandfather. She loved to decorate her living room for holidays and at the change of every season. Doris enjoyed her family and the frequent, four-generation family gatherings that took place pre-COVID. She always joked about the saying "She who dies with the most fabric wins". As her family, we think she was the winner, but not for that reason alone. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and GG-ma who will be missed by all. A part of her will live on in the many handmade creations she leaves behind. Doris's wish was to remain in her home until the end. She received loving care from her daughter and granddaughters, Amy and Lori, and the wonderful CareFirst team of Dean, Patsy, Lori, Erica, Iva, Melissa, and Syd. 552	Doris Marie Floch, 85, former Phoenix, NY resident and current Buckley Landing resident, passed away on Wednesday at Van Duyn Ctr., Onondaga. Doris had many fond memories of growing up in Brooklyn. She loved going to the Brooklyn Dodgers games with her father. She enrolled at Oswego State College where she met her future husband Henri, also a Brooklyn native. After graduation she headed off to California with her girlfriends, but later returned and married Henri in 1954. Raising three daughters and a number of pets with special fondness Missy, Ruby, Allie, Cupcake, and Wiley. Mom was an elementary school teacher and later was a saleswoman for Sears. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. Doris played Bridge with her long time friends Rita, Joanne, and Ellie. As a mom she sewed many Halloween costumes, and baked the best gingerbread cookies for Christmas. Mom encouraged her daughters to follow their dreams. Mom and Dad would pack up the car and trailer for month long adventures to Canada, Maine, and take a visit to grandparents in MA. During their retirement years, they ventured off to Hawaii, Florida, Arizona. But Lake Ontario was where you'd find them most summers reading and napping, walking along the beach and watching sunsets over the lake at days end. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Aagot (Tonneson) and William Burkle; her husband of 58 years, Henri, July 3, 2012; her sisters, Edith and Margot. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara (Bonnie), Nancy (Sheila), Margot (Greg); grandchild, Andrew (Christina); great-grandchildren, Henry & Jillian; cousin, Leonard, niece and nephews, Joanne, Dean & Jay. 553	Dorothy Cole Casey, age 97, passed away October 3, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona, where she spent the last several years living close to her family. She was 97. Dorothy was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Plymouth, the daughter of Edwin and Martha Larson. She married Eugene H. Cole Sr. of Elkhart Lake in 1940 and the couple took up residence in Oshkosh. Dorothy became the Executive Director of the American Red Cross Oshkosh Chapter and held that position for many years. She was a dynamic force in expanding the Oshkosh Chapter and representing it and surrounding areas on the National Level. Dorothy was very active in her women's groups, card clubs, and served on many boards in various official capacities including fundraising chairman for the Paine Arboretum. The family belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, where in addition to many other activities she sang in the choir and at one time directed the youth choir. Having been raised in a philanthropic environment, Dorothy continued that tradition throughout her entire life. Following Eugene's death in 1994, Dorothy married Joseph John Casey of Eagle River in 1998. They were married five years until his death in 2003. During her years in the north woods, Dorothy was proud to be an active and dedicated member of the Eagle River community. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Eugene (Carol) H. Cole Jr. of Mesa, AZ; Christine (Robert) McCleery of Tucson, AZ; and Wendy (Michael) Gallagher of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One granddaughter preceded her in death. 555	Duane Hendrickson, age 68, of Menomonie, WI, peacefully passed away on Monday March 30th, 2015, after his battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 9th, 1947, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire to Harvey and Mildred (Berg) Hendrickson. He grew up in Sand Creek, WI, graduating from Chetek High School in 1965. He went on to obtain a degree in Psychology from UW-Eau Claire. Duane married Mary Larson on June 10th, 2000, at Peace Lutheran Church, where they were active members. Duane was a very involved member of the church community and found great joy singing in the adult choir. Duane most cherished his wife Mary, his daughter Kris, his two grandchildren, the Packers, Badgers and the Brewers (but not necessarily always in that order!). He is survived by his wife Mary (Larson) Hendrickson, daughter Kris (Steve) Wiggins, grandchildren Carter and Cassidy Erickson, two sister-in laws (Joyce York, Julie Eiseth) and one brother-in-law (Mark Larson), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, sister Lynda, and brother-in- law Rod. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Kristine Stedje officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. 562	Earl K Sanders, age 82, of Embarrass, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was born on July 4, 1939, in Highlanding MN, to Elvin and Selma (Sunsdahl) Sanders He was a US Army veteran. Earl married Carol Wells on December 30, 1967, in Embarrass. He worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from LTV Steel as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass and Quayle-Shuster-Truman-Muhich American Legion Post 241 in Aurora. Earl is survived by his wife, Carol; sons: Alan and Steven (Amber); daughter, Aimee (John) Anderson; grandchildren: Amanda, Harley, Jessica, Michelle, Brittney, Ash, Coltan and Erin; and one great-grandson; and other family members. 564	Edith grew up in Staten Island, New York, and graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1940 with honors. Edith worked at Kresge's 5 & 10 Cent Store, Weissglass Dairy, Bell Telephone Co., and The Jewish Foundation School as a bookkeeper and also at Unexcelled Fireworks Plant on Staten Island, where she assembled bombs during World War II. She married Frank J Siebold in May, of 1942, and they had a son, Frank J. (Jasmine) Siebold, Jr. of Myrtle Creek, OR. After her divorce, she lived for a short time in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She returned to NY, and married Olaf A Myhre II on January 11, 1958. Their children are: Edith M. (Kevin) Calkins of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and Olaf A. (Edith Irene) Myhre III of Riddle, Oregon, and step-son, Gregory H. (Kathy) Myhre of Staten Island, NY. Olaf Jr. recently worked at the Umatilla Weapons Disposal Facility near Hermiston, Oregon, disassembling some of those same bombs created in World War II. Edith and her family moved to Canyonville, Oregon, in 1977. She worked for 25 years at Hobi Logging Supply in Roseburg, OR as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the Oregon Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Canyonville where she was Worthy Matron in 1984/85 and again in 1985/86. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Canyonville. She exercised at the Oregon South Health Club well into her 80s. Edith also enjoyed knitting, doing crosswords, reading, baking those special cream puffs for her Hobi crew and preparing delicious dinners for family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother; and three brothers: Hugh Morrow Jr. of Venice, Florida; George Morrow of Staten Island, NY; and John J. Morrow of Venice, Florida; and one step-brother, Raymond R. Roock of Venice, Florida. She is survived by her children: Frank; Edith; and Olaf; and step-son, Gregory; she is also survived by nine grandchildren: Michelle (Pat) Fourmont of Carlsbad, CA; Scott (Megan) Siebold of Trinity Alps, CA; Patrick Siebold of Las Vegas, NV; Jeanette Choong of Singapore; Russell (Danae) Cramer of Ellensburg, WA; Aaron (Kimberly) Traylor of Palm Springs, CA; Tara (Christian) Yates of Myrtle Creek, OR; Mark (Kyomi) Traylor of Kailua, HI; Katelyn Myhre of Staten Island, NY; and 13 great-grandchildren: Donovan; Drue; Benjamin; Keegan; Talula; Colt; Katlyn; Zachary; Connor; Layton; Sway; Brittany; and Ryuta. Her family and her friends will miss her dearly. She had many friends through the years and stayed in touch with a lot of them for over 80 years! She and her brothers had that extra twinkle in their eyes that gave them a zest for life and a sparkle to everyone they met. 566	Edward L Gallagher, 85, of Seaside Park, NJ passed away on January 20th, 2019 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Edward was born in Kenilworth, NJ and lived there until 1949 when he moved to Roselle, NJ. He graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 1951. He raised his family in Roselle with his late wife Edith. They moved to Cranford in 1983 and retired full-time to their summer home in Seaside Park in 2004. Edward was a US Army Veteran serving in Korea. He was employed as a Sheet Metal worker with Local Union #22 of Cranford. He worked his way up through the Union ranks retiring as a Business Manager in 1995. His greatest accomplishment within the Union was fighting for its members to remain an independent Union when other Unions were being merged throughout the country. He also served on the DMC in Cranford and on the Borough Council in Seaside Park. Edward leaves behind his loving children, daughter Amy L. Eberling of Cranford and son Thomas E. Gallagher (Joanne) of Colonia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Corinne Ardente (Brian), Lauren Eberling, Michael Gallagher, Lauren Wojcik (Kevin), Alison Miller, and one great grandchild Desmond Wojcik as well as many loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Edith L. (Giesler) Gallagher (June 2018), his parents Patrick and Genevieve (McCarthy) Gallagher, his brothers John P. Gallagher and Peter McCarthy, and his sisters Anna Mae O'Shea, Theresa Scheidegger, Eileen Hogan, Kathleen Brearton, and son-in-law Dean Eberling. 568	EICHLER, Raymond Anthony Dec. 19, 1924 - July 30, 2013, Ray Eichler, 88, of Seminole, passed away on July 30, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Grigalavich Eichler; and by daughters, Jo Ann (Jay), Karen (Russell); and son, Michael (Leslie); along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ray serv-ed in the Navy during WWII with the 4th Marine Division, 121st Battalion in the South Pacific. Strong and athletic throughout his life, Ray enjoyed a long retirement full of his favorite activities: tennis, golf, fishing and travel. Known for his keen sense of humor and sharp wit, he always had just the right "zinger" comment at just the right time. He will be missed. 572	Eileen M.Sweeney of White Lake and Sun City Center, Fla., and a homemaker dedicated to her family and large circle of friends, died May 31, 2005, in Florida. She was 79 years of age. The daughter of the late Jane and Patrick Boland, she was born June 30, 1925, in Brooklyn, the youngest of four children. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis V. Sweeney, at home; three children, Diane S. Garry of Forestburgh, Patricia S. and her husband, Joseph V. Bak of Eastford, Conn., and Frank Sweeney of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jameson and Andrew Bak, Erin, Meghan and John Garry; a sister, Joan Dunn of Blauvelt; an aunt, Margaret Kelly; a brother-in-law, Robert Nylund; a sister-in-law, Jean Boland; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was offered in Florida on June 3. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church in White Lake. Burial of the cremains will be made at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel. Mrs. Haase was born at Scandinavia, Wisconsin, on January 5, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Larson. Her husband Peter Haase, preceded her in death 15 years ago. 575	Ellen (Giesler) Venditto, 91, of Toms River, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 peacefully at the Rose Garden, Toms River. Born in Roselle, she lived in Clark for many years, before settling in Toms River in 1980. Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1990; her brother, Raymond Giesler; and her sister, Elizabeth McConnell. She is survived by her two daughters, Marcia Keller, of Toms River and Susan Venditto, of Syracuse, NY; her sisters, Anne Chappell, Edith Gallagher, Jean Knight; her sister-in-law, Mary Giesler. Also surviving are the loves of her life, her grandsons, Scott (Kathy) Keller and Jason Keller, of Toms River. Her greatest joys, to whom she was referred to as "Great Ellen" are her great-grandchildren: Grace, Jacob, Katelyn, Lillian, Mason, and Madelyn Keller. The family wants to personally thank the staff of Rose Garden, Brandywine Assisted Living, and Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of their beloved Ellen. 577	Ellsworth – Evelyn A. Vistica, 84, loving mother, grandmother and widow of Robert Vistica, passed away September 15, 2014, at her Bayside home. She was born on December 10, 1929, the daughter of the late Arthur Andersen and Gudrun (Ericksen) Andersen in Bronx, New York. Evelyn spent part of her early childhood in Vik, Grimstad, Norway, until her family returned to the United States to reside in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Ft. Hamilton High School in Brooklyn and went on to work for Western Electric until she met the love of her life, Robert Vistica. They married in 1951 and moved to Maine in 1953. She and Robert worked together every day in their family business for over 33 years. Evelyn is survived by her son, David M. Vistica of Arlington, Va.; granddaughter, Sarah B. Vistica of Arlington, Va.; sister, Grethe A. Richer and husband, Robert A. Richer of Horseheads, N.Y.; niece, Barbara R. Voigt and husband, Glenn Voigt, of Horseheads NY, and nephew, Mark E. Ricker and wife, Sandra J. Richer, of Beaver Dams NY; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. 592	Erin Garry Obituary Erin Garry June 4, 2020 Manhattan, NY Erin Garry, 36 of Manhattan passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on June 4th, at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. She was surrounded by many who loved her. Erin was raised in White Lake, New York, where you could find her running loops and skiing circles around the lake that was home to her family for many generations. From a young age, she valued education and spent much of her time honing her skills as a musician, athlete, and scholar. She graduated at the top of her class at Monticello High school, held a Bachelor's degree from Cornell, and began her career as a public educator when she joined the New York City Teaching Fellows in 2007. After entering NYC's first cohort of the Leadership Advancement program, Erin was placed as Vice Principal at the Bronx Academy of Letters, where she took over as Principal in 2018. Erin added vibrancy and joy to the world as a dedicated philanthropist, loyal friend, and prolific baker of vegan sweet treats. She was both a caretaker and a warrior for her community, performing seemingly endless acts of love for everyone she knew. Erin's life will be celebrated by her parents, Ken and Diane Garry; her siblings, Meghan and John Garry; her partner, Andrew Hartz, and so many family members, friends, colleagues, and students that we would need an entire novel to include them all. Suits December 27, 1919 - July 28, 2010 Mrs. Ethelyn Lorraine Suits, age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Ogdensburg, died Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Ethelyn was born in the Town of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, Wisconsin on December 27, 1919, the daughter of the late Olaf and Ella (Knutson) Olson. She married George Suits on July 23, 1939 in Waupaca. He preceded her in death on Aug 3, 2006. Ethelyn worked at Whale Paper Company in Waupaca which later became Glatfelter Paper in Neenah. She retired in 1975. She is survived by Daughter: Valerie (Duane) Nygaard of Wisconsin Rapids; Son: William H. (Donna) Suits of Bedminister, NJ. Seven Grandchildren and Fifteen Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Donna Gjertson of Iola and Lavonne Waller of Fond du lac.
