Russell was a member of the NJ State Police Chiefs Association, the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association, and Treasurer of the National Police Athletic League. Russell belonged to the NJ Honor Legion, and he was a 72 year member of the American Legion of the Fairview Post # 365. Russell was a Life member of North Bergen VFW Post 2648, a member of Sons of Norway, and a long-time parishioner of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cliffside Park, NJ. Russell was a proud US Army Veteran serving during World World II. He was the first Juvenile Officer in Cliffside Park, NJ, and he formed the Cliffside Park PAL and coordinated summer trips and sporting events for the local youth. Russell rose to the rank of Chief during his career spanning 42 plus years with the Cliffside Park Police Department. In the 1950's, Russell was a key figure in bringing organized women's sports to the local area under his leadership as director of the Cliffside Park PAL. 5560	Nygaard, Duane Duane C. Nygaard of Wisconsin Rapids died on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau following a brief illness. Duane was born at home to Carl and Sadie Nygaard of Scandinavia, Wisconsin on October 14, 1937, the fourth of six children raised on the family dairy farm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church and graduated high school in 1956. In 1961 he earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in both Mechanical and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On January 21, 1961 Duane married his sweetheart, Valerie Jeanne Suits of Waupaca, Wisconsin. They began married life in Madison where he completed his studies and moved to Beloit to begin his first job as a product engineer at Beloit Corporation. Two children were born to Duane and Valerie: Beth and Pete. In 1966 Duane and Valerie moved to Wisconsin Rapids where he began work as an engineer at Consolidated Papers. Over the decades they restored their turn-of-the-century home on Fourth Street where they raised their children. Duane retired from Consolidated in 1998. Throughout his life Duane was an active volunteer in the community serving with Ministry Homecare, Wood County Transportation, Aging and Disability Resource Center, First English Lutheran Church, and the Salvation Army. Duane restored two 1929 Ford trucks and a 1946 John Deere LA tractor and was a talented woodworker and creative home handyman. Duane relished his role as grandparent to his five grandchildren and shared his good humor and exceptional visiting skills with friends and family alike. Duane is survived by his wife, Valerie and children, Beth Nygaard (Mike Sims) and Pete Nygaard (Sara); five grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah, and Benjamin Sims and Thomas and Hannah Nygaard,; and siblings, Dolores Knutson, Phillip Nygaard (Phyllis), Bob (Judy) Nygaard, and Carolyn McKenzie; and sister-in-law, Beverly Nygaard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Nygaard. A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Cheryl Davis will officiate. 5562	Når Kongsvinger på 1900-tallet skulle få sitt eget amatør-symfoniorkester, skyldes det initiativet til den nytilsatte organist Adolf Gustavsen. Fra århundreskiftet fantes det kun små ensembler av strykere og blåsere i festningsbyen, men da denne allsidige musikeren tiltrådte i 1921, fikk han raskt etablert både et mannskor og et lite orkester. Samtidig gikk han i gang med opplæring på ulike instrumenter, slik at flere av den gamle garde i orkesteret fikk sin første skolering av Gustavsen. Ved vielsen i 1926 står han oppført som organist og musikklærer i Kongsvinger. 10. april 1948 fylte organist Gustavsen 60 år. Han hadde da virket i byen i nærmere tre desenier og ble varmt hyllet for sin store innsats. Fire dager etter dirigerte han Orkesterforeningens konsert i Bedehuset, medt fult hus og stor suksess. I 1953 ble Gustavsen tildelt Kongens fortjenestemedalje i sølv for sitt grunnleggende musikalske virke i Kongsvinger og distriktet, og på sin 70 årsdag i 1958 ble han utnevnt til æresmedlem i Orkesterforeningen. 5563	Obituary Donna Jean (Brohman) Gould Suits passed away peacefully Wednesday April 15, 2020, 6 days after her husband of 34 years, William (Bill) H. Suits, both having succumbed to a coronavirus infection. Donna was born September 23, 1941 in Detroit Michigan to Andy and Ida Brohman. She grew up in Detroit with her older sister Elda (Brohman) Helm O'Brien, who still lives in Michigan. Donna attended Pershing High School (Class of 1959) where, on the first day of school, she became lockermates and then lifelong friends with Joan (Bennett) Uhrick, who she often called her "second sister". Donna married Edmund Price Gould on August 19, 1961. They moved to Freehold, NJ and raised 3 children, Wendy (Gould) Biggs (married to Ray), Paul Gould (married to Kathy Wurzbach Gould) and Brian Gould (married to Claire Hoeschler Gould). Donna filled the home with love, talk and music, playing guitar, leading the junior choir at Hope Lutheran Church, and warmly welcoming anyone the children brought home. The family moved to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1979. Donna and Ed separated in 1983 and divorced. Donna married her second husband Bill Suits in July 1985 and moved to Bedminster, NJ to a condominium in Knollcrest. Donna welcomed Bill's children as her own: Tim Suits (married to Beverly Fontanares Suits) and Joanna (Suits) Hubenthal (married to Carl) . For years Donna loved working as a realtor, warmly meeting people and welcoming them into their new homes. Donna was able to travel on realtor trips and she loved to share stories with her family of the memories of her overseas travels for years. She and Bill loved music, going to concerts and singing in their church choir wherever they lived. Donna had a deep love for all her grandchildren: Alicia and Daniel Biggs, Carley and Jamison Gould, Laura Gould and Zachary Gould, Ashley, Lilith and Connor Hubenthal, Stephanie Fontanares Smith and Sierra Amelia Fontanares Suits. She always loved reading with the children. Seeing her grandchildren and their accomplishments brought great joy to Donna. With her debilitating arthritis worsening, Donna and Bill moved to Meadow Lakes senior community in East Windsor, NJ in 2014. When her out-of-town family visited, Donna loved showing off the beautiful gardens of Meadow Lakes. With Paul's family nearby, she was able to attend her grandchildren Carley's and Jamison's sporting and musical events. Donna enjoyed attending family holiday events at Paul and Kathy Gould's house with her family and friends - the more people to talk to, the merrier! Despite Bill having been a University of Wisconsin football player and her children and grandchildren being avid football fans, Donna never quite seemed to figure out the game of football! She'd much rather read People magazine and drink her can of Diet Pepsi - through a straw. Bill lovingly cared for Donna as her health declined over the last few years. Their love for each other was strong and neither would have been happy alone on this earth. Knowing their faith in the Lord, they now rest together in the Lord's house: My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 5564	Obituary for Eric Arnold Osteraa Eric A. Osteraa, 84 passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 after a short illness. Eric was born December 7, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, son to Erik A. Osteraa and S. Lillian Anderson. The family returned to Norway shortly thereafter living through the Nazi occupation. Eric joined the newly formed Norwegian Air Force in 1945 where he served until coming to the United States again to join the U.S. Army Air Force. In 1947, he was sent to Frankfurt Germany to fly in the Berlin Airlift where he met his first wife Erika. He left the service in 1949 but was recalled in 1950 during the Korean War. He remained in the service until 1977 serving a tour in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star amongst other awards. Eric's second career was as a mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office from 1978 to 1989. He is survived by his second wife, Reidun Skaalerud of Fairfield, daughter and son-in-law Ellie and Dick Flackman of Layton, Utah, son and daughter-in-law Errol and Catherine Osteraa of Salinas, California, daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Daniel Brown of Vacaville, California: four grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Eric was preceded in death by his parents; brother Finn Osteraa and sister Inger Osteraa as well as his first wife Erika Guenther. 5565	Obituary for John C. Torborg Queensbury: John C. Torborg, 77, a resident of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Pines of Glens Falls. He was born on December 3, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late John and Doris (Jensen) Torborg. Mr. Torborg retired after 25 years of dedicated service from Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City as a Hardware Planning Engineer and also from the United States Air National Guard as a Master Sergeant, where he served his country for 28 years. He helped with fundraising for the Sportsmen for Charity in Pawling, New York and was an member of the Camp Fire Club of America in Chappaqua, New York Survivors include his wife Rose (Ingoglia) Torborg of Queensbury; his two sons, Michael (Linda) Torborg of Milford, PA and Vincent (Alicia) Torborg of Coventry, RI; his three grandchildren, Skyler, Kendall, Samantha and one great granddaughter, Victoria Rose. He is also survived by one brother, Steve (Pam) Torborg of Beaufort, SC and several nieces and nephews. She was born November 21, 1897 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Ole Evenson and Acelia Anderson. She was raised there and graduated from Eau Claire High School. She attended the UW School of Library Science and was employed at the state historical society library and the Eau Claire Public Library. She married Walter W Crane December 2, 1922 in Minneapolis and resided here since. She was employed by the Chippewa Falls Public Library. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband March 6, 1968, a sister Mabel McNair and a brother Irvin. Survivors are a son, Walter W, Chippewa Falls, a daughter Anne (Mrs Richard) Wilke, Chippewa Falls, a brother, Obert, Minneapolis, a sister Alma O'Brien, Eau Claire, and three grandchildren. 5567	Obituary John Alan Lindlof John Alan Lindlof, 55, died in a Bangor hospital, May 22, 1982. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, February 2, 1927, the son of the late Oscar Kenneth Lindlof and Margaret Thompson King Lindlof. He was a graduate of Manumit School in Pawling, N.Y., the Cambridge School of Weston, Mass., attended Wesleyan College, and graduated from Yale University, Class of 1947. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He received a M.Ed. from Temple University, M.Ed. from the University of New Mexico and did his graduate studies at Cornell University. He was an instructor and later co-director of the Manumit School of Langhorne, Penn., from 1947 to 1957. Following which he was an instructor in Rye High School in Rye, N.Y., 1957 - 1959. From 1959 - 1960, he served as an N.S.F Fellow at the University of New Mexico, a graduate assistant and instructor at the University of Maine at Orano for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Parrish) Lindlof of Orano, one son, Kenneth Graeme Lindlof of Waterville, one sister, Karen King Plunkett of Bricktown, N.J., several nieces and nephews. A family service will be held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Cambridge, N.Y., followed by burial in Woodland Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Orano at a time to be announced. 5568	Obituary Karen Plunkett The family and friends of Toms River resident Karen Winifred Plunkett, who had family in Brielle, celebrate her life and morn her passing Tuesday, October 14. She was 66 years old. Karen was born and raised in Brooklyn, before moving to the Jersey Shore with her family in 1970. She resided in Brick for nearly 30 years, before moving to Toms River. Her warm smile, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by: Her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Jim Flynn, of Brielle, her son Jim, daughter-in-law Julie, and grandson Jimmy, of Indian Trail, N.C.; her extended family of relatives; her old and close friends, Peggy Sutto, Carol and Kit Wood, and Edith and Richard Munch; and the many people she befriended over the years who came to love her as her family did. Her loved ones will miss the twinkle in her eyes, her love of animals, and her loyalty to her friends. She was a devoted mother and beloved mother-in-law, who gave advice when asked, loved unconditionally all the time, and was proud of the people her children had become. Karen was employed by Lorillard for 13 years, and most recently worked for Jersey Coast Vascular Associates. 5570	Obituary Richard Bennett Bennett, Richard, 83, of Plant City, Fla, passed from this life, to his home in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ, January 29, 2010, after a heroic battle with congestive heart failure. Richard was born July 10, 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Harold M. and Ruth H. Bennett. As a young man, Dick loved sailing and the sea. He continued to enjoy that sport into retirement with his sons, both in New Jersey and in Florida. Dick began his academic pursuits at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute but was interrupted by American's involvement in World War II. He served in the U.S. Army 32^nd Armored Regiment and was a part of the Lightning Brigade and the Battle of the Bulge. He remained in Germany for a short time as part of the Occupation and then returned home to complete his degree in Engineering Management. After graduation, he immediately accepted employment with Ingersoll Rand where he served for 36 years, rising to the position of Corporate Controller. In 1950, Dick married Francis Mueller of Brooklyn, N.Y., who preceded him in death in 1962. He is currently survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Shirley Leh Bennett. He is survived by four children, Barbara Psathas of Bethlehem, Pa, Richard James Bennett of Wauseon, Ohio, Thomas Harold Bennett and his wife Alisyn of Clemmons, N.C., and Robert Gordon Bennett and his wife Stacy of Plant City, Fla. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren James Psathas, Alexandra DeLabar, Michael Psathas, SaraAnn Bennett, Shaun Bennett, Aaron Bennett, Amanda Bennett, Ryan Bennett, Michael Bennett, and Avery Bradshaw. He will be greatly missed by his four-paw furry buddy Tiger with whom he spent much time during the last few months. Before retiring to Florida in 1998, the growing family would gather at their house in Westfield, N.J. to celebrate births, birthday parties, and holidays. The grandchildren have a rich memory of the special times with "Pop-pop" and "Grandma". After settling in Florida, Richard joined the Church of God where he made so many new, genuine friends. When he was still feeling well, he spent time in the food banks, stocking the shelves for the church. He supported his wife, Shirley in all her Bible study teachings and meetings at their home. Dad was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. We will always cherish our memories of him as Dad and as "Pop-Pop" to our kids. We will miss our daily phone chats, his encouragement and support. 5571	Obituary Virginia Parrish Lindlof WATERVILLE - Virginia Parrish Lindlof, 83, formerly of Orono and Cambridge, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Lakewood Manor Nursing Home. She was born and raised in Cambridge, N.Y., on Nov. 20, 1921, the daughter of Malcolm and Elsa Cornell Parrish. She married John Lindlof on Nov. 12, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and they had one son, Kenneth, born in 1953. The Lindlofs lived in Bucks County Pennsylvania; City Island, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ithaca, New York before moving to Orono when John received a teaching assignment in the College of Education at the University of Maine in 1961. He taught there as a professor of Education until his death in 1982. Ginni continued to live in Orono until moving to the central Maine region in 2000. Ginni attended Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt. and worked as a teacher in Pennsylvania, New York and New Mexico. She was a graphic artist with Maine Public Broadcasting for 28 years until her retirement. She was known by family and friends for an unparalleled zest for life and an upbeat, infectious personality that drew others to her. Her character showed through even in her last hours when she told caregivers that "it's going to be a beautiful day". In addition to her husband and parents, her sister Nancy Parrish Russell predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Kenneth, his wife, Kimberly; grandson, Jared Poulin of Waterville; brother, Graeme Parrish and his wife, Grace of Cambridge, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Karen Plunkett of Toms River, N.J.; brother-in-law, Carl Josephson of Connecticut; nieces, Leslie Hemberger Bangor and Katie Gibson of Providence R.I.; nephews, Steven and Roger Parrish, both of Boulder, Colo.; Peter Parrish of Vancouver; Alan and Ted Hemberger of New York and John Hemberger of Connecticut. 5596	Olaf A. Myhre, Age 76, of Canyonville, Oregon, beloved father and grandfather, passed away March 10, 2004 after a battle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1928 in Staten Island, New York, son of Olaf and Gertrude (Gunderson) Myhre. He was raised in Staten Island and entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving at Hickam Field, Hawaii in Communications. Olaf was an accomplished violinist playing for the Staten Island Symphony Orchestra as first violinist, 5th chair. After the War, he worked for the New York Telephone Company for 30 years. He retired in 1977 and brought his family to Oregon. He loved the outdoors — camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing his violin and listening to classical music, and woodworking. He is survived by his three children, son, Greg and his wife, Kathy Myhre of New York, daughter, Edith Cramer of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and son, Olaf and his wife, Irene Myhre of Riddle, Oregon. He had four grandchildren: Aaron (Kim) Traylor, Tara (Christian) Yates, Mark (Kyomi) Traylor and Katelyn Rose Myhre. He also had six great-grandchildren. Olaf and his wife, Edith were married for 30 years. A special light in his life was his granddaughter, Katelyn of New York. He is also survived by two sisters, Flo DeCasto and Grace Borchard of Florida, and his lifelong friend, Stan Christianson and his wife, Nan of Florida, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who love him very much. 5597	Olaf A. Myhre, retired builder. Olaf A. Myhre, 69, of 331 Jewett Ave., Port Richmond, died unexpectedly yesterday in his home. He had suffered a heart condition for the past six years. Born in Gjeving, Norway, Mr. Myhre came to the United States 53 years ago and to Staten Island six years later. He was a retired builder in the Randall Manor area and a real estate agent. Mr. Myhre was a member of the board of directors of the Fort Lee (N.J.) Childrens Home for ten years. He was a former chairman of the executive board of Salem Evangelic Free Church, West Brighton, and a member of the Young Men's Christian Association, and of Everyman's Bible Class for 18 years. He leaves his wife, Gertrude A.; two sons, Bernard N., of 94 Harrison Ave., and Olaf A. Jr., of 241 Charles St., both Port Richmond; six daughters, Mrs. Agnes M. Clarke of Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Mildred D. Naylor of 88 Lockman Ave., Mariners Harbor; Mrs. Florence Da Casto of 1416 Forest Ave., Port Richmond; Mrs. Edna V. Fenty of the home address; Mrs. Ruth M. Kohlmann of 41 Alpine Ct., West Brighton, and Mrs. Grace L. Hood of Scotch Plains, N.J. He is also survived by three brothers, J. Silas, of 52 Ardmore Ave., Willowbrook; Aanon, of San Benito, Texas, and Jens, of Arendal, Norway; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Lester P. 5600	Ole Sunsdahl, 82, of Tower-Soudan, formerly of Goodridge, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at the Virginia Regional Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1918, in Star Township, Pennington County, Minn., to Knute and Thea (Selmanson) Sunsdahl. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man during the Depression. He married Inga May Holen on Nov. 14, 1939, in Gully, Minn. He farmed with his wife from 1939 to 1954 near Goodridge. They moved to the Tower-Soudan area in 1954 and worked for Foley Construction when Foley was building Erie Mining Co. He later worked for Erie Mining Co., the Soudan Underground Mine and retired from Reserve Mining in 1981. He was known as a kind, friendly man who enjoyed people and made friends wherever he went. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Soudan and kept the church lawn neatly mowed for many years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family. Survivors include his wife, Inga, of 60-1/2 years; two daughters, Carol (Luc) LeBon, and Wanda (Jim) Fisher; five grandchildren, Nancy (Jeff) Lerum, Michael (Tammy) Sunsdahl, Rachael (Chad) Nordlinder, Patrick J. Fisher and Amanda Lynn Nelson; two great-gandchildren, Tyrel J. Lerum and Cheyenne M.
